Atomic BC1 BCD

The Atomic BC1 has been designed to be the best, just as every other Atomic product always is. Every element has been scrutinised, redesigned and developed so that it is the ultimate premium BCD that everyone wants.

An important note. The BC1 is not actually supplied with an inflator of any kind so you have the option of adding either the Atomic Ai Inflator or going up a level and adding an SS1. Just use the options to make your choice.

The BC1 is made from an exclusive material that has a classy matte finish. The fabric is a double laminated polyurethane that is really strong, durable and waterproof to the extent that water runs off it rather than become absorbed. Even the way the BCD feels screams premium quality.

The BCD itself uses a standard harness integrated into the bladder with adjustable quick release buckles on the shoulders, across the chest and at the waist and a large full height backplate provides plenty of stability which is covered with a quilted (yes, QUILTED!) backpad that extends into the shoulder straps. For those that suffer a little with lower back comfort the backpad has adjustable lumbar support for a customised fit.

Each side has a large zipped pocket but these aren't any old zipped pockets because these have self sealing zippers that close completely to prevent sand and grit ingress into the zip teeth. You'll also find knife grommet mounts.

Let us talk D-rings...plastic, nope, steel, nope, alloy, nope... the BC1 is equipped with custom 316 stainless steel D-rings that have been coated with a black titanium PVD coating to make them more corrosion resistant and you'll find them strategically placed around the BCD for best convenience.

The Atomic BC1 features an integrated weight system which holds 4.5kg (10lbs) in each pocket. The pouches themselves have a zip that runs approximately three quarters around the pouch for easy access to the inside and will accommodate either bags or blocks. The pockets slide into the BCD and lock with a reassuring 'snap' and are released again with a simple tug on the handle. To compliment the weight system there are also trim weight pockets integrated into the rear of the bladder that will take approximately 2kg each.

On the back of the BCD you'll find Atomic's 'Dry Glide' exhaust dumps that use low friction 316 stainless steel components, one pull dump mounted on the right shoulder, one on the right kidney and a dump integrated into the inflator hose. The pull dumps are fitted with negatively weighted pull knobs. You'll also find a large anti-slip tank pad which when combined with the Atomic CAM-LOK tank band provides the ultimate cylinder security. The tank band was designed around ski and snowboard bindings and uses a heavy duty rubber strap rather than a webbing. The strap can be quickly adjusted to suit a wide range of cylinder sizes.
